Amplified Voices x Albany Public Libraries
Traveling Mural @ various NYS Public Libraries
August 2021
Overview
“Branching Out: Amplified Voices,” a collaborative initiative by the Albany Public Library and Amplified Voices, provided teens from Albany, Troy, and Schenectady with workshops that merged art and activism, aiming to tackle systemic racism and uplift BIPOC artists. Guided by mentors from AV, participants created a traveling mural displayed across various library branches, coupled with live performances that included music and spoken word, enriching community engagement. With support from grants and donations, the program emphasized the value of artistic work, offering compensation and mentorship opportunities to participants for professional development in the arts sector.
