In a vibrant collaboration with Honest Weight Food Co-op, Amplified Voices engaged local youth in crafting a 70-foot long mural that celebrates food access and community bonds. Guided by AV mentors and supported by various organizations, this week-long mural camp empowered young artists to make their mark on the community landscape. The resulting artwork, a testament to collaboration and unity, now adorns the co-op’s lively parking lot, inspiring all visitors with its message of hope, perseverance and fellowship. The mural concept derived from poetry performed by youth mentor Danielle Colin. The story of a little girl who travels alone far from her village to retrieve sacred water for her people. In her expedition, she seeks refuge in a cave where she is met by an injured animal in need. By coming to the wolf’s aid the forest recognized her good will and brought an array of animal friends. They continued their travels together and helped her to get home safely with the sacred water she needed.
