Overview
A wish to uplift the community, forms into an idea, which takes shape in the hands and hearts of changemakers. My first ever youth mural program; a collaboration with 4th Family, Albany Center Gallery and Albany Housing Authority. With the increasing count of “red X”(Condemned) buildings in Albany, we wanted to combat the lack of walking safety felt on city blocks with a significant number of X’s. The goal was to have youth play an equal role in creating imaginative family friendly spaces. Middle and high school students from the surrounding area designed and developed playfully uplifting movable murals. The city then attached the panels to 3 locations near public libraries where final details were painted on site.
To this day they remain untouched and brighten the everyday commute in and out of Albany.
